When replacing your brake pads it is important to also replace the pad sensors. Brake pad sensors are designed to clip into the brake pads in line of contact with the spinning brake rotor. Once the pad wears to within 1/8 inch of their wear limitations the rotor cuts into the sensor and severs the wire contact, which in turn triggers the pad warning light on your dash. Sensors are design for one time use. Each BMW/MINI model will typically have one pad sensor on the left front and one on the right rear.

Note: Make sure new sensors are locked into there proper holders to avoid damage.
