High volume metallic cats have been a part of European motorsports for years and are required in many U.S. racing series. Stock ceramic cats are not designed for the high temperatures of racing and the cores actually melt, causing blockage. For racing or driving school events the solution is to install a metallic cat and save the stock ceramic cat for street use.
