The Great Bimmer / MINI Roundup 2006
For those of you that attended the 2006 MINI/Bimmer Roundup, the whole PROMINI team would like to thank each and every one for sharing in this great event. I felt that the show was a huge success, and it seems like the event gets a little better each time. With the rain clouds looming overhead I was a little concerned Saturday morning that the Great MINI/Bimmer Roundup was going to turn into the MINI/Bimmer Car Wash. The turnout was quite impressive. As expected the bulk of the crowd was from Texas, however we had several from Oklahoma, Arkansas, and Louisiana. We even had a few visitors from California and New York. It's always a pleasure to meet members of the BMWCCA and MINI chapters and special thanks to the members of the Tejas, Lone Star, Sunbelt, MetroPlex, and HMMS clubs. We had all types of BMW's ranging from the classic 2002's the latest e90 330i. There were several Z3's, as well as some very impressive 6 series models. The caravans of MINIs were very impressive, I'm not certain of the exact count, but I?m guessing there were over 50 MINIs, in almost every combination of colors and sticker schemes. What an enthusiastic crowd. A special thanks to our vendors, they did an excellent job sharing their product knowledge during the tech sessions. Their generous donation of door prizes generated $775.00 in raffle ticket sales. All of which will go to the Organ Donor awareness programs. A special thanks to the 3 member of the Genesee Valley chapter of the CCA who drove none stop from Rochester New York to spend the day at the event and at about 3:00pm Saturday afternoon loaded up the car and drove back home.
Rudy's BBQ: You know it's the law when you come to Texas you have to eat BBQ. And when you come to Tyler it has to be Rudy's BBQ. Rudy's fed close to 200 people with some of the best tasting beef and turkey BBQ in this entire state. The meal line stretched across the entire BMP parking lot. And they did all of this for FREE. This generous donation alone generated almost $1328.00 for our Organ Donor awareness programs.
The people's choice car shows: All I can say about this is there were some beautiful cars for both the MINI's and BMW's. Selecting only one in each category had to be a tough call for the voters.
KTBB live radio broadcast: Lonnie Johnson once again did a great job broadcasting his car show live from the BMP design showroom, although he put me on the spot by wanting me to talk German on the radio. But that's OK. I'll do something special for him next year, when he least expects it.
